Les Misérables, the worldwide phenomenon, brings to life the tragic story of Jean Valjean, a convict, whose entire life is changed due to a single act of kindness. This beautiful epic tale, set in early 19th-century France, tells of the redeeming nature of forgiveness and the human spirit. Gary John returned to POTS for a seventh season to direct and stage this Tony Award-winning Best Musical in its regional premiere.

January 2013 – Gary John won not one – but two awards! His production of Fiddler on the Roof at Barrington Stage Company (starring Brad Oscar) was nominated in five categories and Gary John won both Best Direction – Large Theatre and Best Choreography – Large Theatre.

August 2012 – Gary John won the Ostrander Award for Best Direction of a Musical for his production of next to normal at Playhouse on the Square in Memphis, TN.
