This site introduces the work of Gary John La Rosa, a professional (SDC) theatrical director/choreographer. As you navigate around, you will find a host of information including a bio, resume, references, excerpts from reference letters, reviews and a gallery of production shots.

Gary John is equally a director and choreographer and happily works as either or both. His endeavors have taken him to four continents where he has worked in all types of venues, from indoor to outdoor, including proscenium, thrust, and in the round. His training took place in numerous NYC studios and he earned a degree in theatre and dance from UCLA. He brings over 25 years of professional work experience to the table.

Playhouse on the Square, TN

With a thrilling contemporary score, next to normal is an emotional powerhouse of a musical about a family trying to take care of themselves and each other. Gary John returned to POTS for a sixth season to direct and stage this groundbreaking Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical in its Regional Premiere. It was exciting to bring this complex, moving and thought-provoking piece to the Playhouse's new Mainstage.
